The issue is that, things won't be like this if Nigerian government has been making efforts to make Nigeria better for their professionals to stay and work. We can't afford to be training our kids for rich nations that still require huge chunks from our forex reserves from our children. It's time we looked at imposing mandatory years of service to all Nigerian professionals before relocating abroad fir greener pastures. Ironically, like we subsidize oil products for all our West African neighbors through smuggling, we also train medical doctors and engineers for the rich nations of the world. With less than £500 as opposed to £10,000 abroad, you can earn a first degree in any public university in Nigeria. It's the cheapest and heavily subsidized anywhere in the world. Nigerians are offered tertiary education on a platter. It's a major reason why only rich Americans and Europeans can afford university education. Student loans are on offer but it must be paid after graduation and could take a lifetime to offset. Higher education in Britain as elsewhere in the West is very expensive and would require lots of money which Oyinbo don't have at their disposals. Work experience is more valued than a collection of degrees.
Nigerians who have worked or working in the UK will understand this. With a GCSE certificate and NVQ, you don't need more to rise through the ranks at work. Two reasons are responsible: the Japa Crowd and British citizens' general attitude towards university education.
